Launching the 2005 Tibra awards
Greetings of peace!
We are now accepting nominations and volunteer judges for the 2005 Tibra Awards. Please join hands with Tibra as we inspire more Libyan young women to reach for higher standards. We count on your help to locate nominees and recruit judges. Your financial contributions are also needed to fund this year's program and make it another success.
Raising funds is still challenging for Tibra. We hope--with your participation--to be able to offer more to our future generations, honor more of them, and continue to nurture our Libyan community at large with positive feedback. With the launching of the fifth Tibra Awards round, we bring you a summary of the funds raised in the previous rounds:
| Year | Number of Donations | Total Donations | Target |
2001 |
16 |
$1,858 |
$1,000 |
2002 |

$3,040 |
$2,500 |
2003 |

$1,620 |
$900 |
2004 |

$1,540 |
$1,400 |
The monetary part of the Tibra Awards is significant and necessary. But even more significant is the symbolic value of the Award, which is, for most recipients, the only example of institutional Libyan recognition of their excellence, among long lists of honors and awards. And who can be better ambassadors than our distinguished youth, to carry the message that Libyan individuals are deserving of honor, and Libyan institutions are actively honoring their own!
