Dear friends,

Due to the increasing number of friends taking interest in Tibra Award, we needed to send the announcement message several times. We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused.

Here is an update of where the Tibra Award project stands as of May 21, 2001:

  • We sent the first email announcing Tibra Award on May 10, 2001
  • The announcement was sent to 58 people
  • 23 people subscribed to Tibra's mailing list
  • We contacted 6 educators asking them to serve as judges
  • Judges committed: 4
  • Donations received: 250
  • Donations pledged: 470

  • Nominations received: zero

We really need your commitment at this time. We need you to send donations and nominations. Donations can be 5, 10, 20, 50$ or any amount you can afford. Write a personal check or money order to the order of Hana Naas and mail it to the address below. Also, think about someone you might know in her final year of high school, contact her and try to fill out the nomination form together.

Send donations and nominations to:

Please reply to tell us if you have already sent your contribution or will be able to nominate or donate by a deadline of May 25, 2001. We will have 5 days to contact the nominees, verify the information and complete what is missing, and send the nomination ballots to the judges to evaluate by May 30, 2001. Your support is critical for the success of this community project because we can not do it alone.

Join us celebrate the success of our future leaders!

Welcome to Tibra Award

Dear members and friends of the Libyan community:

We are launching an excellence award program that targets young women of the Libyan community, and we are naming it Tibra Award.

Our long-term goal is to establish a channel for recognizing, supporting, and empowering women of the Libyan community all over the world. Through this channel we want to be part of developing reliable future leaders, and to encourage young women to remain connected and active in our community. Establishing Tibra Award program is the first modest step toward our objective.

We count on your support and contributions to help us make this program a success. Your contributions are welcome in the form of monetary donations. We also encourage all of you to participate in the nomination process.

We ask you to please keep this information, including the url, for yourselves. We don't want to go public at this early critical stage. As soon as we complete this first round, we will publish the results and appeal to the broader community for support. We feel it is very important for the viability of our project to publish accomplishments not just plans. We will keep you informed every step of the way and we hope that you can help make this project a success.

For your convenience, we have set up a simple web page to describe the process and objectives of the Tibra Award program. On the site, you will find a sign up box for our mailing list where you can subscribe to the list to receive future messages from us. Future email messages will only go to subscribers of Tibra's mailing list.

Help us celebrate the success of our future leaders.

Respectfully,

Magda Fehema & Hana Naas
